The asparagus festival is here again. It is taking place this weekend April 26 – 28. It is a great event on the waterfront in Stockton that provides live entertainment and activities, highlighting everything asparagus.
This years highlights of the event include:
-The Gin Blossoms taking the main stage on Sunday afternoon. Brings me back to the 90’s, really hoping they play Follow You Down and Hey Jealousy.
-Spear-Its of the Valley offers a large covered tent with an assortment of adult beverages including microbrews and wine.
-Shopping, shopping, and more shopping. There is something for everyone. Over 600 vendors which include arts and crafts, home expo, and farmer’s market.
-Asparagus Alley offering only food made with asparagus. You can expect some of the regular items like fried asparagus or asparagus burritos. But don’t be afraid to try some of the stranger ones – asparagus ice cream, asparagus margarita, or asparaberry shortcake.
If you decide it is something you want to try, make sure to consider your transportation options. If you don’t want to fight the crowds driving, you can come by water and dock your boat in the Stockton Marina or park at Delta Junior College and take the bus service to the event.
Don’t forget to bring the water and sunblock, it may be hot one. Whatever you do, make sure it is done responsibly.
